Rick Clair & Colleen Goldrich
Continuing our 50 year celebration with two artists that have had their work at Annie Kaill’s for over 25 years!
Colleen Goldrich of Moondance Alaska moved to Juneau originally in 1985 and although her jewelry making career didn’t start until 1991, she was always inspired by her surroundings. “Inspiration comes from the incredible wild landscape of Alaska. From my home in the “flats” of downtown Juneau, I am surrounded by towering mountains and the sea. The seasons provide an ever changing landscape of color and light and are a never ending source of awe and inspiration.”
Rick Clair came to Alaska in 1975 wearing a backpack, with a teaching degree, 20 dollars and the desire to lose himself in the mountains and forests. A lifelong artist, he was self-trained and unsure of how his work would be received. In the supportive and nurturing atmosphere of Juneau, his creative energies flourished and he sold his first painting in 1992.
As a counterpoint to the shades of grey that can define Juneau, Rick employs a polychrome pallet and surrealistic style to interpret the southeast Alaska experience.
