TrollFest – May 24, 2025 at Centennial Hall
Join us for TrollFest, a one-night mini-festival scheduled for Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Centennial Hall.
TrollFest is described as a “sockeyedelic multi-media celebration of the art and music of Ray Troll”. It invites attendees to put on their favorite iconic Ray Troll tee shirt and their shiniest fishy duds to come boogie down with friends and family.
The event features the original music of three Alaskan Troll family bands:
- The Heists (bluegrass). This duo, featuring Erin and Andrew Heist, combines one of the state’s premier mandolin players and tenor bluegrass harmony singers with a rising songwriter whose lyrics get at the heart of being raised in Alaska. Known for their toe-curling country and bluegrass harmonies, they share songs and stories from decades of experience playing across Alaska’s communities.
- Whiskey Class (indie rock). This band, featuring Liz Snyder, Patrick Troll, and Alex Nelson, masterfully balances beckoning vocals, cascading guitar riffs, hypnotic drum breaks, and evocative bass lines. They captivate with echoing melodies that feel both familiar and novel, guiding the listener through a musical hero’s journey.
- Ray Troll and the Ratfish Wranglers (psychedelic fish rock). This wily bunch of artist-musicians from Ketchikan plays what has been described as “sub-aquatic neo-folk, fish-punk-funk rock”. At its core are well-known Alaskan fish artist Ray Troll, along with Russell Wodehouse, Shauna Lee, Patrick Troll, and Chazz Gist. They put on a fun and uniquely Alaskan show complete with a “sockeyedelic” light show and surreal humor, often including science in their tunes about weird and wonderful creatures.
